Rationale and Objectives

The preparation of doctoral degree graduates is aimed at developing a core of highly educated individuals capable of analyzing and solving problems through the incorporation of knowledge from a broad variety of fields. The curriculum design seeks to provide an educational experience that builds on the capacities of each student and is consistent with the philosophy of Thammasat University. The objectives of the Program are to:

  • produce doctoral degree graduates possessing an interdisciplinary outlook with a high level of knowledge, ability, and academic excellence, who are capable of understanding problems and phenomena of the society, and who are able to effectively apply their knowledge in conducting research and undertaking their professional responsibilities;
  • build a core of knowledge of an interdisciplinary nature presently lacking in the society that will be useful in developing the academic potential of the country capacity.

Thammasat University , a leading institution in the fields of the social sciences and the humanities, has invited recognized scholars from various faculties within the University as well as from other institutions to participate in the Program, along with outstanding individuals in the private and public sectors, to serve as lecturers, dissertation advisors, and thesis Committee members.
